The idea for this project grew out of a friendship. A child at the heart of this connection, Walter, became the inspiration and namesake of the association. His story and spirit continue to shape the values and vision of our work. 

 The project continued to grow through several visits to Sierra Leone and close collaboration with multiple local partners. These experiences helped deepen our understanding, strengthen relationships, and shape the project together with the community on the ground.
